Welcome

Welcoming actions

A series of actions has been developed to offer students pre-enrollment support, guidance and information in accordance with the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros Informáticos' Internal Quality Assurance System "Welcoming Actions" Procedure.

Welcome Day

The goal of the welcome day is to give an overview of the activities and services regularly provided by the UPM as a means of improving student adaptation and integration into their new environment. This will also include an official introduction to the faculty and to the programme.

Special-purpose measures for international students and students with special educational needs

The welcome and guidance programme makes provisions for special-purpose measures for international students. These include an information and guidance system on visa formalities, documents, etc., information on customs, tourism, transport, accommodation, etc., information on Spanish courses and information on grants for international students.

The welcome and guidance programme also covers special-purpose measures for students with special educational needs. These include information specifying accessible entrances for differently-abled individuals, human support systems for travel and special-purpose measures for students with special educational needs. Additionally, the UPM also has a Support Unit for Differently-Abled Individuals, whose goal is to promote barrier-free higher education, guarantee equal opportunity and prevent discrimination.

The Universidad Politécnica de Madrid offers a Student Support service for all prospective or current students who may need information on accommodation, visas, insurance, handbooks, etc.

Information Distribution

There are different channels to distribute information and interact with students:

  • The UPM website, where prospective students can find information on official PhD programmes and apply for admission to programmes.
  • The Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros Informáticos has a Postgraduate Office where qualified staff will help with the administrative procedures.
  • PhD Coordination is available to solve any enquiry about the programme.
  • Finally, student PhD programme advisors will always be available to provide guidance in matters related to academic and research life. In addition, advisors will periodically review students' activities.
